What Christians BelieveThis page ties together several pages from this site to help address this question for unbelievers. The understanding you gain will not make you an expert in Christian doctrine, but we trust, and pray, that it will make you want to know more. Ultimately, you'll find the answers you seek in God's Word, the Bible, on which all of these article rely heavily. If you have specific questions I may be able to answer, you can direct them to me through our Feedback form, under the "Home" folder in the dropdown menus Help for New Christians: This page offers answers to some of the most basic questions about God, Jesus Christ, and the nature of man. There are numerous references to the Bible, which you can look up either on this site, in our online Bible, or using the Scripture Search box, which takes you to a different site. What Is Atonement? The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the atonement for our sins. What does that mean? Why Should We Believe in the Virgin Birth? The Bible insists that Jesus was born of a woman who had never had sexual relations with a man, and that her son, Jesus, was created in her by an act of the Holy Spirit. What Is Sin? That Bible says all of us have sinned, but what that three-letter really involve? Also, see Keyword Studies on Lust and Greed. Is There Really only One Way to be Saved? Christians insist that no adherents of other religions have any hope pf salvation, as do many others of their faiths. Is that true? What Are Cults? Some groups claim to be Christian, but their beliefs and practices fall short of the Biblical standard. For a discussion of some of the leading cults, and a more concise statement of their marks, see The Beliefs of Cults. What Is Faith? The Bible says we are justified through grace (a gift we don't deserve, given by God), through faith. If that's so, we need to know what the Bible means by "faith". Also, see the detailed Keyword Study on Faith. What Is Justification? That question follows naturally from the one above. What Is Sanctification? This is something that is supposed to happen to believers after they accept Christ. Also, see the Keyword Studies on Holiness and Purity. What Is Godly Love, Versus the Love as the World Knows It? We use the term very loosely, for anything for tastes in food and clothes, to our favorite movie star or TV show. What Is Prayer, and What Does the Bible Say about It? The short answer is communication with God, but the Bible addresses different types of prayer, the keys to effective prayer, unanswered prayers, and many other topics.. Why Do We Say the Bible Is Infallible? Christians, fundamental ones, anyway, believe that the Bible was inspired by God, in its entirety, though written by human agents. That belief is an essential part of our faith. How Can We Tell If Someone Is Demon-Possessed? Demons are fallen angels, created by God, and once enjoying his presence, but cast out with their master Satan, the Devil, once exalted next to God himself. Demons exist to prevent nonbelievers from coming to know Christ, and to prevent believers from being effective witnesses. Eternal Security: If we become Christians, and know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, does God change his mind later? Do we? Also see Is It Possible to Lose Your Salvation? Can People Be Reincarnated? According to some Eastern religions, and some New Age cults, the answer is "Yes"/ This article discusses what the Bible says about the question. What Does the "Second Return of Christ" Involve? Many believers claim that his return is imminent. What Are the Places the Bible Calls "Hell" and the Lake of Fire? All of those who reject Christ are destined to go there. If something you see here raises more questions, perhaps it could form the basis for another article.
