The great hymn writers of our time were not only gifted in the composition of beautiful lyrics and melodies, they were also active in God's service in many other ways. Almost uniformly, they were actively involved in evangelism, the pastorate, service to their local churches, or other areas of ministry. They left us an incalculable heritage in word and song, and the hymns they penned have blessed, and continue to bless, uncounted multitudes of God's people.
With two exceptions (Philip Bliss and Fanny Crosby), the biographies and photos included on these pages were extracted from the excellent hymns site, the Cyber Hymnal. As required in the use of materials from that site, and from Wikipedia, the source for Fanny Crosby, I have included links back to the sites from which the material was derived. I did the same for the site from which the material for Philip Bliss was extracted. To the best of my knowledge, all of the material included is either in the public domain, or may be freely copied and distributed. If I find out otherwise, the affected material(s) will be removed.
