When Darkness Falls

When Peace Comes

When Prayers Fall Short

How Can I Go On?

With a single stroke he took away

The joy that sustained my living.

All the trust it seemed was vain

For he snatched away life without warning.

All of the years of hope dissolved

Useless the effort invested.

How could he take my child from me

And leave me the empty years waiting?

Ah, but even when I despair of His love

He touches my heart with his groaning,

For he knows the pain, the sorrow of loss,

He bore it himself on cruel Calvary.

His comfort in the loss sustains

Though grief in sharp edge pierces our being.

"Come away", his voice says, "and walk for a while,

Don't say a thing, just remember."

When the pain loses newness, and dulls with the days

That seem to drag on with no meaning,

He restores what we've lost, for he once paid the cost

For the hope that awaits us in Heaven.
