The Bible has much to say about itself, and about the role it should play in the lives of believers. The longest chapter in the Bible, Psalms 119, is devoted to it, as God's law. Jesus is identified as the eternal Word (John 1:1-4). Paul wrote to Timothy that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. " (2 Timothy 3:16-17) he also referred to the Word as the "sword of the Spirit", in Ephesians 6:17). John wrote that anyone who added anything to it. or took anything away from it, (referring specifically at that point to the Book of Revelation) was cursed and condemned.

Self-styled modern translations modified the record of the textus receptus, or Received Text, handed down from the early church to us as the authoritative version of Scripture, by incorporating two versions rescued from the trash heap of history in the nineteenth. The translating boards have essentially taken the position that if these two texts agree on a given passage that they outnumber the traditional text two to one, and should be given precedence. As a result, many verses in the King James were removed altogether, and the meaning of many others were changed. The two Greek tests relied on by scholars to "correct" the Received Text are both Gnostic versions of the Scripture rejected by the early church (the Gnostics claimed they had "special knowledge" that only the initiated could receive, and that God could only be reached through a chain of beings, like angels). These two "Alexandrian" texts are first cousins, if not siblings, of the ridiculous "Gospel of Judas" that received much medial hype back in 2007. One of the corrupt heresies spawned by such translations as the NIV is that some behavior such as homosexuality is not considered a sin in the New Testament, only perversions of the practice. Sin is still a sin, and this includes homosexuality in any form, abortion, other forms of murder, lying, cheating, stealing, and a list of many others covered in Scripture.

Along with other like-minded Fundamental Christians, I stand firm in the belief that the King James Version of the Bible is the only translation worthy of the name. This view will be reflect4ed in every Biblical reference we use.
